TO REQUEST THE MONROEVILLE DIVE TEAM ACTIVATED – CALL 412-856-1111.
We are available for Rescue, Recovery, Search and Salvage Dive requests.
Formed in the early 80’s the Monroeville Dive Team was initially formed for our members to all come together and provide a specialized team and get some additional training. The team was very popular and performed a lot of training at our local pools, ponds and quarries. The team had numerous members and equipment was initially provided with an “all involved” approach purchasing equipment for all the divers.
Due to the small number of calls and eventual loss of interest, the dive team dwindled down to just a few members in the early 2000’s.
The past few years though, many of the newer members joining are looking to re-vamp the Team and get it started back up. The equipment and gear the guys use now is mostly their own with the exception of the SCUBA air bottles, rope and other small items (extra weights, spare masks, extra fins) which the Fire Department have had since the early 90’s.
Lately, the Dive Team has mobilized several times to assist McKeesport, Duquesne and areas surrounding them with several successful recoveries by all teams involved. We are always eager to provide the assistance and appreciate the calls. A strong new interest in the team has taken shape and we have starting to get a regular training schedule started again. We welcome new MFD members and those interested in helping out.

WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK the GATEWAY SCHOOL DISTRICT and the PLUM YMCA for use of their indoor pools during the winter months!!! The dive team will be using the pools for drills, equipment familiarization, team building skills, and emergency drills. This will help keep our team in sync with each other and comfortable with each other during emergency operations. It will also keep Team members interested so that we don’t get bored during the winter months as diving around the area becomes near impossible.
So again…..THANK YOU!!!!
